Robert Farkas received his diploma as a violinist and teacher at the Franz Liszt Music Academy, Budapest. Besides the violin, he plays the accordion, the guitar and the piano. At the age of 16, Robert joined the Budapest Gypsy Symphony Orchestra – a 100 piece large ensemble touring the world’s most prestigious stages in Europe, the US, Japan and elsewhere. He soon became the youngest lead violinist and soloist of the orchestra. In 2002 Robert began to foray into more experimental territories: he played in Balkan, gypsy and rock bands. In 2003 Nigel Kennedy asked Robert to be his consultant on a gypsy project he was preparing. In March 2007 he founded Budapest Bar.
